What is EPFO Login?

EPFO stands for the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, which is an Indian government organization responsible for managing the provident fund (PF), pension, and insurance schemes for employees in the organized sector. The EPFO login is an online portal that allows registered members, employers, and pensioners to access their EPF (Employees’ Provident Fund) account information, such as checking their PF balance, downloading their passbook, updating personal details, submitting claims, and more. Users can log in to the EPFO portal using their Universal Account Number (UAN) and password to avail of various online services related to their provident fund account.

What is UAN Login and Its Significance?

Unified Account Number (UAN) serves as a unique identifier for EPFO members, streamlining various provident fund services. UAN login provides access to an integrated platform where members, employees, and employers can perform multiple actions related to their provident fund accounts.

Who is Eligible for EPF?

  • Any employee (except for government employees) whose monthly basic salary is ₹15,000 or less is mandatorily enrolled in the EPF scheme.
  • Companies with more than 20 employees can opt to include employees with a basic salary exceeding ₹15,000.

Contribution Rates:

Both the employer and employee contribute 12% of the employee’s basic salary (capped at ₹15,000) to the EPF account. This creates a significant retirement corpus over time.

Benefits of EPF:

  • Retirement Savings: EPF provides a substantial financial cushion upon retirement.
  • Interest Earned: The EPF account earns attractive interest rates, allowing your savings to grow steadily.
  • Tax Benefits: Contributions made towards EPF qualify for tax deductions under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.
  • Life Insurance Cover: EPF automatically provides Life Insurance coverage (EDLI) to members.

What is a UAN?

  • A UAN is a unique 12-digit identification number assigned to each employee in India.
  • It acts as a single umbrella for all your provident fund accounts, eliminating the need to manage multiple IDs.
  • It simplifies tracking your contributions, withdrawals, and overall PF balance across different employers.
Why is UAN Important?
  • Portability: When you switch jobs, your PF seamlessly transfers to the new employer under your UAN, ensuring continuity in your retirement savings.
  • Online Access: You can access your PF details, track contributions, and manage claims conveniently through the UAN portal.
  • Transparency: UAN provides a consolidated view of your PF activity, promoting transparency and make it easier tracking.
