  • 1985: The journey of Kotak Mahindra Bank began in 1985 when Uday Kotak, the founder and managing director, established Kotak Capital Management Finance Ltd. (KCMFL) as a non-banking financial company (NBFC). The initial focus was on bill discounting and corporate finance.
  • 1990s: In the early 1990s, Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. received a banking license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to start banking operations. This marked the transformation of the company from an NBFC to a full-fledged banking institution.
  • 2000s: The bank continued to expand its presence and diversified its offerings, including retail banking, wealth management, and investment banking. It also launched various innovative financial products and services to cater to a broader customer base.
  • 2003s: Becomes India’s first NBFC company to get converted into full-fledged bank
  • 2010s: Kotak Mahindra Bank continued its growth trajectory by acquiring other financial institutions. Notably, in 2014, the bank acquired ING Vysya Bank, further expanding its customer base and branch network.
  • 2014s: ING Vysya Bank merges with Kotak Mahindra
  • 2017s: Launch of 811 – India’s unique full-service digital banking ecosystem
  • Present: As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Kotak Mahindra Bank remains a prominent player in India’s banking sector. It offers a comprehensive range of services, including personal banking, business banking, loans, investments, insurance, and more.
